U.S. Vintage Stock Cars

ATTENTION TRACK OWNERS/OPERATORS:  Please feel free to contact me for more info on these two classes.  About the only information I don't have right away is the weight of the RJSpeed "Sportsman" chassis ready-to-race.  Everything else should be good to go.  ;-)

Welcome to the home for the newly-created U.S. Vintage Stock Car 1/10th scale R/C oval racing class, based on 4wd touring cars, RJSpeed Sportsman chassis, and current 1/10th scale oval pan-car chassis. The class rules are developed to provide close racing with controlled chassis, battery, motor, tire and body specifications. The goal of the USVSC is to bring back awesome looking cars in a cost-controlled racing format where the result is JUST PLAIN FUN! The speed of the specification package brings close and competitive racing for sportsman, intermediate and experienced hobbyist that rewards driver development.

**NOTE:  We are attempting to infuse the "spirit" of local-type short track racing back into the radio-controlled racing hobby.  Have fun with these classes.  With the full-fendered cars, you can beat and bang a little bit and still have a good, competitive event.

With a decline in all of R/C racing in recent years, racing needs a big shot of fun and excitement--and this is the perfect class. Far more reasonable speeds, low costs, realistic and exciting looking bodies, wheels and tires, less traction and wheel-to-wheel action drive this class. It IS the next big thing. It's appealing not only to spectators, but to new and old racers, alike. For a low initial cost, any prospective oval racer can get a car, a radio and be racing with very little time or effort. And the fact is that racers who have never raced before can be on the same level playing field as everyone else, and really enjoy doing so.

The basic rules for Vintage Stock Cars are based on the popular Vintage Trans-Am rules, which were created by energetic and insightful racers in Wisconsin and Illinois, and have proven to be very effective and successful. All rules will evolve and adapt as the class warrants. New participating tracks are encouraged to grow the class and adapt ideas to the class, and share those ideas with the U.S. Vintage Stock Car Series, yet stay true to the original ideas and rules. Hopefully, we can all make this a great class to grow with, and bring back the fun and entertainment to road racing.

To see the "look" of the race cars we're going for, check out the photo galleries - or, add your own gallery.

If your track would like to be a general participating track and run the USVSC class and rules, please contact us with any questions you may have. We'd love to have you on board.
PURPOSE of U.S. Vintage Stock Cars:  To provide some inexpensive, fun classes of short-track radio-controlled racing, using existing class rules as a basis.
For aspiring oval racers to go out and purchase good, used racing equipment (chassis, electronics, etc.) and provide classes structured for close, competitive racing.
To allow racers time to work on their driving skills, not the "motor/battery of the month/week" and not have to spend thousands of dollars on top-rated equipment.
To provide at least one "entry-level" class, as inexpensive as possible, and not have "tire wars" by prohibiting the use of "exotic" foam tires in the Sportsman and Late Model Stock classes.
We are NOT looking to run any of the "traditional" 1/10th scale oval pan-car classes.  One of the functions of USVSC is to mimic realistic, full-scale weekly short-track racing classes that are seen at your local short tracks across the country.
If these classes interest you and you wish to add them to your racing program, please let us know, visit our "Forums" page, and post your track's information.
Good luck, and let's get back to fun with R/C racing!
